Osakidetza-Servicio Vasco de Salud is the only public healthcare service of the Basque Country (north of Spain). Since its creation as the Basque Health Service in 1983, the objective of Osakidetza has been to guarantee all people a public, universal and quality health system. Today Basque public health is, in addition to a collective achievement of the entire Basque society, a reference model.
