Universidad Politécnica de Madrid

The Technical University of Madrid is a leading university in architecture and engineering education in Spain. It is one of the technical universities in Spain with a higher promotion of research and development activities, having several research centers and faculties focused on different fields, including those within the area of the healthcare sector.

As part of UPM, MEDAL (Medical Data Analytics) is a laboratory belonging to the Center for Biomedical Technology (CTB) at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). MEDAL is one of the principal research laboratories with a strong focus on activities centered on the application of computational techniques (mainly artificial intelligence) to the analysis of different types of biomedical data.

Its role into the LUCIA Project is to develop machine learning models for risk factor identification, to create the integrative models to connect the knowledge acquired from the clinical records and from the insights that can be extracted from biological knowledge.
